Hello everyone!!
We had our first official Green Team meeting! Thank you to all those who came and participated! For those that couldn't make it, here is a brief review of what went down!
We started with a centering prayer/meditation; I read the Thanksgiving Address from the "Allegiance to Gratitude" chapter in Robin Wall Kimmerer's Braiding Sweetgrass. If you are interested in reading this book I have a copy that you can borrow!

After we talked about the Thanksgiving Address I gave a small introduction of the Green Chalice program (check out "Becoming a Green Chalice Congregation" blog post for more info)
We then all talked about ways our congregation can make changes to be more environmentally conscious. The Disciples Home Missions website has a list of ideas we looked at. A couple we focused on include; installing Bee Homes (please look up pictures, they are SO cute), planting native flowers in the cross shaped flower bed, and trying out glass communion cups instead of the plastic ones we currently use.
I will be bringing this to the whole congregation at the next board meeting, October 19th, to vote on the top three and then the congregation will start working on those changes!
Finally, I asked the Green Team to sign the Green Chalice Covenant provided by the Disciples Home Missions. If you would also like to sign it please visit the link below!
Sign Green Chalice Covenant here!
Overall it was a great success and I can't wait to meet again!
Peace and Blessings,
Kate.
Title Page Picture: This is a photo I took of Gus, the largest Western Larch (Larix occidentalis) in the WORLD! He has been living just outside of Seeley Lake, MT in the James Girard Memorial Tamarack Grove for over 1,000 years! He is 163 feet tall and has survived over 40 wildfires! He reminds me that we, humans, are very young compared to nature and have a lot to learn. If you are ever in that area, I highly recommend you stop by and say hi to Gus for me!
P.S. I'm still working up the courage to start the Vlog but I will let you know when I've started!
