Welcome to the Green Chalice Initiative at FCC Missoula. Green Chalice is the eco-justice ministries in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Our aim with this initiative is to work towards our congregation becoming a CERTIFIED Green Chalice Congregation. Initial steps will be to become a standard Green Chalice Congregation.
Coffee Program
As part of our Green Chalice Initiative, FCC Missoula has purchased Coffee and Tea from Equal Exchange, a fair trade coffee, tea, chocolate, and more company. This means that the coffee we serve as a community is ethical, equitable, and sustainable! This work is in addition to our efforts to eliminate the use of styrofoam and reduce disposable products. As we continue to move forward in Green Chalice, look for opportunities to purchase Equal Exchange Products at FCC!

Sustainable Efforts
At FCC Missoula, we are making an effort to be Good Stewards of the Earth. While we are not perfect, we are taking action. In our community, we have switched to using re-usable communion cups and have been working to reduce the use of disposable products (plates, utinsels). In addition to reducing and reusing, we are also recycling. In our fellowship hall are recycling bins for Plastic and Aluminium. In addition to this, our Office Spaces also recycle paper and cardboard. Feel free to bring reclycing with you on Sunday mornings to add to our collection that is regularly taken to recycling centers.

Ecological work
Part of the Green Chalice Initive work is looking at our practices in our landscaping. In 2026 we are making plans to plant indigenous wildflowers and create bee hotels to encourage polination. These efforts will work to reduce our water usage, increase the beauty of our campus, and support our natural world.
