Howdy everyone!
Don't forget we have our SECOND Green Team meeting TODAY!
Oct. 20th, @ 5pm at FCC (Fireside Room)
Quick update before our meeting today
The church had our October Board Meeting yesterday and I reported on the Green Chalice program updates. To my gleeful surprise, everyone was really excited about it! I introduced the six changes the Green Team has brain stormed and then everyone voted on their top three favorites! As a reminder, here are the six changes picked by the Green Team!
Using glass cups for communion (rather than plastic)
Plant native grasses/flowers in some of out flower beds
Make/place Bee Houses
Avoid/eventually stop using single-use plastics
Conserving our energy (replacing lightbulbs/using sunlight etc.)
Join the Equal Exchange Coffee Program
Of those six, we will be doing... drum roll please!
Glass cups
Native plants
Bee Houses and the Coffee program (it was a tie, but I think we can do both)
At our Green Team meeting, we will be sinking our teeth into these changes and really looking into the logistics of them!
ALSO! This is the time of the year when everyone gets getting sick, so please take care of yourself! Drink lots of water, take Vit. C, get plenty of rest and wash your hands! If you're not feeling well, please stay home and rest!
Peace and Blessings,
Kate.
Title Page Picture: I took this photo last year up Lolo Peak on a Fire Ecology field trip; a very severe wildfire went through this area back in 2017. It was terribly cold and there was a constant drizzle-downpour and our assignment was to count Lodgepole regeneration. It was tedious work and everything was wet but I look back at it now very fondly. This photo reminds me that even after something disastrous like severe wildfire, nature finds a way to survive.
